Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick in Mad Hatter

Mad Hatter:  Have I gone mad?
[Alice checks Hatter’s temperature]
Alice:   I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

Hellooooo!  Last night I was able to pick up the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Collection lipstick in “Mad Hatter.”  I found the Alice Lipsticks at Ulta for $18.00 USD (the eyeshadow palette is here for $60.00 USD).  These products have launched early at Ulta; however, if you are a rewards member at Urban Decay or have Flash Shipping at Sephora, from what I understand, they both will be getting the collection fairly soon.

I really love the limited edition packaging.  Even the box for the lipsticks is psychedelic, man!

The tube is plastic and feels a bit more lightweight than the regular Revolution Lipstick tubes.  That’s ok, because LOOK HOW COOL this packaging is.  O_O

I know this is an Alice Through the Looking Glass collection for the upcoming movie, but who else is getting a Price’s Paisley Park video vibe besides me?

Description From the Ulta Site:

Inspired by the fantasy-adventure film release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, Urban Decay’s limited-edition shades of Lipstick pay tribute to some of the main characters from the film: Alice, Mad Hatter, Mirana (the White Queen), Iracebeth (the Red Queen) and Time, a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock.

Pair the Lipsticks with the Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette and you’ll have everything you need to recreate the looks from the film. From sheer nude with a pink shift and bright red matte to gunmetal-navy with silver shimmer, these shades range from classic to edgy. Regardless of the finish (sheer, shimmery or matte), each shade has a super-creamy feel and provides rich payout.

Each Lipstick case features a colorful, kaleidoscopic pattern inspired by the film. Urban Decay debossed the top of the cap and the Lipstick with the UD icon and screened “Urban Decay” on the inside of the case.

My Take On Mad Hatter Lipstick:

Mad Hatter metallic lipstick reminds me a bit of Makeup For Ever’s #15 Pearly Violet lipstick.  However, I always found that lipstick to be quite dry and that it tugged on the lips and was uncomfortable to wear.  Mad Hatter is a little more sheer; however, that means that it can be changed up with different lip liners and be a bit more versatile.  It’s a sort of matte metallic, if that makes sense, and it’s more of a violet purple than a blue purple  It’s not drying and does not tug at the lips, which I definitely appreciate as I have dry lips.  It’s not particularly hydrating, either.  The metallic finish is not the kind that shows every lip imperfection, like some frosts do. I do not feel any glitter particles when I press my lips together (this drives me crazy).  It lasts for around 4 hours before I need a touch up and stays on very well when I’m drinking water/coffee.

PICS!

I loooooooooooooooove this, guys!  Check it!!  (Worn here with NYX Purple Rain lip liner.  Yes, Prince would approve.)

And for fun, here’s a closed eye shot of my eye look, done with Urban Decay Vice 4 palette (Beatdown and 1985 shadows with Grasshopper):

What are you wearing today?

Makeup of the day – Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette Low, Crowbar, Frame

Ok guys, Low and Crowbar are shadows with serious GLITTER.  Do not attempt to wear these without some sort of glitter adhesive or you will have them all over your face!  I wore them with ELF Glitter Glue and they stayed on like magic!  I wish my camera picked up the sparkle.  I have NYX Cream Blush in Boho Chic on my cheeks and Rimmel Let’s Get Naked Moisture Renew Lipstick on the lips.

I will be posting more Vice 4 makeup looks, so get ready!  😀

Makeup of the Day – Soft Fall Look

Today, I kept my makeup casual and easy.  I put on my foubdation, concealer, and cream eyeshadows with my fingers and wore cream blush for extra hydration.  I just wasn’t feeling like anything too bold today.  I love this soft look!

FACE:

Rimmel Match Perfection 010 Light Porcelain, MAC Concealer Palette Pink under eyes w/ NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and NW10 to spot conceal, MAC Set Powder Invisible, NYX Cream Blush Boho Chic, MAC Sculpt Powder Bone Beige for very light contour

EYES:  Bobbi Brown bone Cream Eyeshadow, Urban Decay Naked 3 palette (omg I forgot the shades?!), Maybelline Master Precise black liquid liner, Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara Very Black (let’s never be apart again), Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duo Ebony (light shade)

LIPS:  Very light layer of Nuxe Rève de Miel lip balm under Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft

PS — NYX Cream Blushes are on clearance at Target for about $4!  I got “Boho Chic” and “Natural.”  I already had “Glow.”  I love these when my cheeks are dry in the winter, so I should be good to go for the cold months ahead!

Makeup of the day – Festive Red Lip

So, I swear I’m feeling like wearing red lips for all of December!  Part of this is that I have my fancy Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm and a sample of Fresh Sugar Lip Scrub, so my lips almost look normal and healthy.  Enough to fake it, anyway… Today I really went for that red lip and retro minimal makeup.

FACE:

Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer in T-Zone, Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain (ASOS, EBay, or Amazon for this UK-only shade), MAC Set Powder in Invisible in T-Zone, MAC Bone Beige/Emphasize for contour and highlight, Illamasqua Katie powder blush

EYES:

Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow in Bone, MAC shadows in Vanilla, Kid, Brule, and Mystery, Wet N Wild H2O Liquid Liner in Black, Maybelline Super Sizer Mascara Black (blah), Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duo Ebony (lighter shade), ELF Clear Brow Gel

LIPS:

NYX Liner in Hot Red, Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Siren In Scarlett

**********

I love this fall look because it’s warm, but still neutral enough that I can pull it off with my cool toned skin and hair.

What are you wearing this fall?

Fall Wedding Guest Look

I went to the wedding of my husband’s nephew yesterday – it rained so it was moved indoors, but the venue was this gorgeous rustic country setting and so beautiful and cozy.  I actually wore the Little Black Dress I eloped in a few months ago (love this thing) with a purple cardigan to jazz up a grey day, along with a vintage aurora borealis brooch that belonged to my grandmother.  Aw!  I coordinated some purple makeup and was good to go.

Purple makeup look features Urban Decay Bittersweet blush and MAC Up The Amp lipstick with MAC Mega Metals eye shadows in  Mating Call, Noir Plum, and Dandizette

Transition to fall makeup with MAC Rebel Lipstick

When the weather starts to change, I start to change up my makeup a bit.  I start to wear more dramatic lip colors and often reach for plums, berries, burgundies, and wines.  MAC Rebel is a lipstick in their permanent collection that is perfect for when the days just start getting shorter and the leaves are just starting to drop.

MAKEUP BREAKDOWN:

Face:  Smashbox Photo Finish Primer on t-zone (this is an experiment to see if this behaves badly with my foundation, which is water based), MAC Face and Body Foundation (2/3 N1 mixed with 1/3 White), NYX HD Concealer in Porcelain around nose and under eyes (I am now rationing my NARS concealer, ha!), MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15 on random pigmented spots, face set with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and a puff to set and mattify, NYX HD Blush in Taupe to contour, MAC Mineralized Blush in Gentle, no highlight needed with dewy foundation and shimmery blush.

EYES:  Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC eye shadows in Shroom and Satin Taupe, L’Oreal Super Slim liquid liner black, Cover Girl Clump Crusher mascara black (I could not use Too Faced Better Than Sex for another day….ugh…more on that later), It Cosmetics Brow Power pencil

LIPS:  NYX Lip Liner in Deep Purple, MAC lipstick in Rebel

WOW this lighting washes me out.  We got new light bulbs.  Not sure I’m a fan!

Makeup of the day – Smoky Eye

No, this wasn’t done with the Naked Smoky palette, as much as I wish it was!  I haven’t justified getting it since I have the Urban Decay Smoked palette, which is what I used to create today’s look, since I was getting tired of bright summer makeup every day (what?!).  I smoked it up good!

I have Urban Decay eyeshadows Kinky, Mushroom, and Asphalt on my eyes with the Perversion 24/7 waterproof eyeliner pencil, all of which came in the Smoked palette.  If you can still find this palette somewhere, I recommend it, because it has more than just greys; it contains lovely jewel tones too.

Owning this palette hasn’t stopped me from hinting around about the Naked Smoky palette for Christmas, though.  #justsaying

Do you ever rock a smoky eye? What do you use to get the look?

Makeup of the Day – MAC does purples right

A while back, a friend of mine sent me some MAC makeup.  One item was this Chromaline cream liner in Rich Purple, which is a rich plum shade.  I’ve tried several times to wear it as eyeliner, but it has just enough red in it to make it look like I’ve been crying or something! Same thing happens when I wear pink eyeshadow.  Anyway, it’s such a big jar and I don’t want to waste it, so today I thought I would try it as a cream eyeshadow.  I placed it on the lower lid, and then I used a cooler blue-purple shadow under the eyes and in the crease and my regular black eyeliner on the top lid.  I think it worked!

Omg, that hair frizz!  It’s humid in August in the South, guys.

MAKEUP BREAKDOWN:

FACE:  Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly, MAC Casual Color on cheeks in Evening Stroll with ELF Small Stipple Brush, face set with NARS Light Reflecting Powder

EYES:  Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow in Bone on top lid, MAC Chromaline in Rich Purple on bottom lid, L’Oreal Infallible Cream liner in black, MAC Mega Metals shadow in Noir Plum in crease and for lower liner, Dolce and Gabanna Passion Eyes mascara, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder in Ebony with #7 brush

LIPS:  NYX Deep Purple liner with MAC Up The Amp lipstick
