What’s on your nails?  Zoya Posh Matte Velvet Laquer

Quick nail post!  I love this Zoya matte polish in “Posh,” because it’s not totally flat – it has this interesting velvety finish.  I did a terrible job around my cuticles because I was painting my nails in the dark by this sad little lamp while my husband was asleep, LOL!

What’s on your nails?  Sinful Colors Bleeding Heart and my wedding band! <3

So, as you know, my husband and I eloped and had a courthouse wedding a few weeks ago!   Here’s a snapshot of my wedding ring. It’s a palladium band that’s handmade and hand engraved, from Aurell.  I am wearing my favorite “holy grail” red nail polish, Sinful Colors Bleeding Heart.

What’s on your nails? – Essie Carry On

Tonight is our town’s local goth-industrial dance night!  I usually wear brights or reds in the summer, but for tonight, I felt like getting my goth on, so I got out this great black-plum-red color, Essie’s “Carry On.” I think this may still be in stores, but I bought it last fall.  It is definitely still sold on their website and many other sites.  This is reminiscent of Chanel’s Vamp/Rouge Noir, only more on the plum side than the burgundy side of black.  I hate to hear they re-released Rouge Noir last year and I wasn’t paying attention, because they now go for $150.00 on eBay.  Thanks, Uma Thurmond.

Ok, so I did a quick and sloppy job, but I got it done, finally – a quickie mani pedi with Sinful Colors “Bleeding Heart,” my holy grail red for at least 10 years.  I believe this is my 3rd bottle.  I use thinners so I can use bottles up, too!

Manicure of the Week

I got some really cool nail polish in this month’s Ipsy bag – Essie’s “Fashion Playground”. It is a neutral toned sea green (or as I like to call this particular color, Art Deco Green) with a subtle shimmer. It goes on a bit streaky, so I needed three coats – but ended up with beautiful coverage. And after a top coat of Seche Vite it is positively glassy and beautiful.

A while back I picked up some interesting looking nail decals from Sinful Colors – a mehendi inspired design with intricate swirly paisley designs in a shimmery bronze. For $2.99 why not? I’ve been looking for a color to put them over and decided this would be great.

Now it really looks Art Deco, which isn’t what I was expecting from a Far East pattern. Love it. I wonder if they’re limited edition (gut instinct says yes).
They go on really easily and stay put, especially if you put a top coat over the top. They are clear and cover the whole nail, they’re not cut-out decals.

These pics were taken after an 8 hour shift at work — stayed perfect and put up to the abuse?! Two! Barista approved.

These are probably a limited edition but I’ll definitely try other Sinful decals after these turned out so nice!

Pride Nail Polishes – Celebrate!

I’m stoked about the SCOTUS ruling yesterday making same sex marriage legal throughout all 50 states!  I’m going to be doing some rainbow makeup tomorrow, but tonight, I thought I’d do a rainbow manicure as well, to show some support and because it’s Pride weekend and I’m feeling festive!

Sinful Colors – Let’s Talk

Ok, now that I have my colors, off to do my nails!  If they turn out nice, I’ll update with a mani pic.  🙂

What’s on your nails?  OPI Big Apple Red

So, my holy grail red nail polish has always been Sinful Colors “Bleeding Heart,” a deep, nearly blood red that’s opaque in 2 coats and looks amazing on fair, cool toned skin.  However, for spring and summer, I found myself wanting a much brighter, true “pinup” classic red to wear on my tips and toes.  Enter OPI “Big Apple Red.”

This is the polish after 2 coats, topped with Poshe fast drying top coat.  As you can see, it’s not 100% opaque, as you get a little bit of VNL (visible nail line) through it, though this would be solved with a third coat.  I just don’t mind having a little VNL and love the color regardless.  My main complaint is one that I have with all OPI polishes, and that’s the extra large brush!  I have really small hands and nails, so I like the thin brushes like you get with Zoya and Essie.  As you see here, the wide brush made it difficult not to get polish on my nail folds in the sides.  I may have to look for a dupe of this in a brand with a brush I can stand.  Aside from that, if you know you like OPI’s brushes, you may really love this bright, classic, true red!

What’s on your nails? Essie For The Twill Of It

So, I’ve been under the weather, so no posts in a couple of days, but last night I managed a home mani-pedi!  I used Nailtiques #2, Essie’s For The Twill Of It, and topped it with Poshe fast drying top coat.  This nail polish is an amazing multi-chrome with hints of teal, magenta, and silver-brown.  In some lights, it appears gunmetal.  It came out 2 years ago, but if you can’t find it, supposedly Peace & Love & OPI by OPI is nearly exactly the same.

I really wish I could capture all the colors in this amazing polish better!

What’s on your nails? Do you lilac it?

Today, I have a nice mixture of spooky and sweet going on – my claw midi ring and this lovely cool pastel purple nail polish, OPI’s “Do You Liliac It?”

I used Sally Hansen Cuticle Remover (blue gel of the gods), Nailtiques #2 as a base coat, two coats of the OPI color, and Poshe quick drying top coat.  Honestly, this color had plenty of shine without the top coat!
